CRITERIA - HONOURABLE MEMBERSHIP
The SABA board has the right to offer lifetime Honourable membership to
any institution or individual.
CRITERIA - CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP ( As a corporate member you
automatically become a board member of SABA )
Any company related to the bodyguard industry would be entitled to apply
for corporate membership, provided it is a legal registered entity.
Registered with PSIRA (All service providers )
Accredited with SASSETA ( All training providers )
Registered and Licenced with SABA (All service providers )

CRITERIA - INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP (A) (Trained cpo’s)( Associated
membership - Training in progress)-(Full membership - Licensed)
Any individual who has been fully trained and been found competent by a
SASSETA ACCREDITED TRAINING PROVIDER on the SAQA - US ID 11510 - TITLE -
PROVIDE CLOSE PROTECTION FOR DESIGNATED PERSONS are entitled to full
SABA membership/ and licensing.

SABA annual registration/license fee is paid - R 250.00
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
Complete a SABA membership application
Submit application form plus proof of TRAINING & ACCREDITATION details.
Within 30 days you will receive your membership certificate plus a
membership ID card.
CRITERIA - INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP (B) (RPL CANDIDATES ) HOW TO BECOME A
SABA MEMBER
An RPL candidate would be a person who has experience as a bodyguard,
who trained and worked as a bodyguard but has not yet attended a formal
course at a SASSETA Accredited training facility on the unit standard ID
11510 with the title PROVIDE CLOSE PROTECTION TO DESIGNATED PERSONS.
Apply for RPL (Recognition of prior learning) at any SASSETA accredited
training provider.
Submit your portfolio of evidence. (Proof of previous training &
experience)
To achieve the relevant qualification an assessor must find the
candidate competent or not yet competent against the outcomes and
requirements of the unit standard.
Usually a number of formative assessments could be required before
progress can be made towards summative assessments.
It is possible that it will be more time consuming and will require more
effort from candidate to follow the RPL route, than Attend a formal
course.
Once RPL is completed and the the CPO has been found competent he/she
can apply for membership/licensing at SA Bodyguard Association.

CRITERIA - INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP (C) (NON EXPERIENCED CANDIDATES)
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF SABA if I have no experience in the bodyguard
industry.
Contact any SASSETA accredited training provider to attend a formal
close protection course.
On successful completion of your course you can apply for membership at
SA BODYGUARD ASSOCIATION
